The integrated circuitry used as the storage medium in solid state devices is sent to precious metal facilities where the circuit boards are incinerated, and the precious metals melted and recaptured. The aluminum used in rotating disk hard drives as the storage medium is sent to aluminum smelting facilities to be melted into aluminum alloys. These are sent to specialized recycling facilities for reuse. Our self-controlled recycling process separates the materials used in the electronic data storage devices into high purity material streams. Mobile Hard Drive Shredding Prohibited In NJ 2008Īs a NJ DEP Class D licensed electronic recycling facility, we provide the regulatory required recycling of the shredded materials that other shredders cannot legally provide.
There are currently10 Class D licenses Hard drives, solid state drives, cell phones, and tablets are all considered electronics and can only be processed and recycled by a class D licensed facility. The NJ DEP requires a “Class D” electronics processing licensed to recycle electronics in NJ. We have the largest warehouse based shredding capacity, as well as four shredding vehicles, in NJ.
